Police capture history in capsule
The QPS 150 Anniversary Commemorative Book, QPS insignia and all of the Police Bulletins from 2014 are some of the items included in the 2015 Queensland Police Service time capsule which was dedicated in a placement ceremony today at Police Headquarters by Commissioner Ian Stewart.
On November 26 1990 a commemorative time capsule which contained 36 policing items from that era was placed in a wall of the Queensland Police Headquarters building by former Commissioner of Police, Mr. Noel Newnham.

Today an additional time capsule was added containing items that illustrated policing in Queensland in 2014, such as current insignia, challenge coins, medals/commendations/citations, news stories, the QPS 150 Anniversary Commemorative Book, Police Bulletins, and a variety of police documents.
A new plaque was placed above the original and unveiled by Commissioner Stewart who said the time capsule was a fantastic method in preserving the department’s history.
“The time capsule provides a unique and meaningful opportunity to provide the future generation an insight into the departments past,” said Commissioner Stewart.
The capsule is scheduled to be reopened in 2064 which will mark 200 years of policing service to the people of Queensland.
